Center for the Study of Biological Complexity

 A think tank comprised of VCU Life Sciences faculty that:
- supports interdisciplinary research and activities,
- revises the VCU Life Sciences curriculum,
- coordinates with the Center for Environmental Studies in research in ecological complexity,
- supports significant research activity in forensic science and developmental biology and
- coordinates the development of core research capabilities in bioinformatics, genomics and proteomics across the university and health system.
Researchers from throughout the commonwealth have joined VCU faculty in collaborative projects and developed:
- new ways to study emerging biological properties using genomic data,
- new ways to teach future scientists and health care professionals
in an integrated approach to life sciences and
- new means of preparing students to work in an economy in which the science, biotechnology and health care sectors are experiencing explosive growth.
