Presidential Search Committee
October 6, 2008
The initial meeting of the VCU Presidential Search Committee was held on Monday, October 6, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. in the University Meeting Center located at 101 North Harrison Street in Richmond.
Present were Ed Bersoff (chair), George Burke, Delores Collier, Linda Corey, Michael Edmond, Roselyn Hobson, and Cathy Howard, Olakunle Idowu, Malorie Janis, Maurice Jones, Lillian Lambert, Morgan McDowell, Dan Ream, Panny Rhodes, Tom Rosenthal, Stuart Siegel, Tom Snead, and Patty Wilkerson; Also present were Steve Portch, David Ross and Karen Balmer.
Dr. Bersoff called the meeting to order and presented an overview of the Committee’s purpose and responsibilities. Introductions of the Committee members were made. Dr. Bersoff announced that Dr. Hobson would serve as Vice Chair of the Committee.
David Ross, General Counsel, presented an overview of the Freedom of Information Act and the VCU Board of Visitors’ Standards of Confidentiality.
Dr. Stephen Portch, Presidential Search Advisor, reported on the draft Environment Scan document. Once input from all of the focus groups is received, the final report will be posted on the Presidential Search Web site. The search process and potential timetable were distributed and discussed.
The next meeting of the Search Committee will be held on October 17, 2008 from 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. in the University Meeting Center.
Two Town Hall meetings are scheduled for October 17, 2008, and will be hosted by members of the Search Committee. The following members will attend and host a Town Hall Meeting on the Monroe Park Campus, scheduled for 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. in the University Student Commons Theater: Ed Bersoff, George Burke, Oklakunle Idowu, Maurice Jones, Lillian Lambert, Morgan McDowell, Dan Ream, Panny Rhodes, Tom Rosenthal, Stuart Siegel and Patty Wilkerson. The following Committee members will attend and host a Town Hall Meeting on the MCV Campus, scheduled for 3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. in the George Ben Johnston Auditorium: Ed Bersoff, George Burke, Delores Collier, Michael Edmond, Malorie Janis, Cathy Howard, Dan Ream, Panny Rhodes, Tom Rosenthal, and Patty Wilkerson.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:45 p.m.
