General Information
Invitation to CAC-2014
Please join us from June 9-13, 2014 for the conference; the 2014 CAC will be held in the United States for the first time in twelve years.
The conference will be held at the Jefferson Hotel, the grandest hotel in Richmond, VA and located just a few blocks from the Monroe Park Campus of Virginia Commonwealth University. The conference will include invited and contributed oral presentations, an extensive poster session, and preconference short courses. The conference registration fee will include all coffee breaks, lunches, and the conference banquet. A conference excursion will also be included. We hope that you will put CAC 2014 on your calendar.
Richmond as a site for the CAC, has several attractive features. First, Richmond, VA offers a convenient location for international visitors. Conference attendees have the options of flying into New York City, Atlanta, Georgia or Washington DC. There are frequent connections from those airports to Richmond International, offering the convenient opportunity to visit further cities while in the US. Richmond is accessible from Washington DC, the capital city, by either a short connecting flight or by train. Second, Richmond is an attractive city from the standpoint of more than 400 years of historical American significance. Richmond was the capital of the Confederate States of America during the U.S. Civil War and is the site of the first US canal system. The canal can now be explored by taking a relaxing canal cruise or by leisurely meandering the beautiful and informative canal walk. Richmond is also conveniently located close to many other historical sites and places of interest. The city is about 50 miles from the first permanent English settlement in North America, Jamestown. Richmond is emerging as a vibrant, mid-size city with amenities ranging from arts to sports. The James River runs through the center of Richmond, and provides the only Class IV river rapids in an urban setting in North America.

Call for 2016 and 2018 Proposals
The CAC Permanent Committee decided to grant the organisation of future CAC conferences based on bid proposals. Bid proposals should be sufficiently detailed to allow the committee to decide on the next conferences. We expect a written proposal that details the chairperson, the members of the Local Organising Committee and the venue. The bid for the 2016 conference should also include budgetary details. Proposals will have to be presented to the members of the CAC Permanent Committee at the running conference.
At the upcoming CAC-2014 Conference the venue and hosts for the CAC-2016conference will be assigned. The CAC-2018 Conference will be allocated during the CAC-2016 Conference.
Bid proposals should be submitted before May 15, 2014 to Prof. Lutgarde Buydens, chairperson of the CAC Permanent Committee (l.buydens@science.ru.nl).
