To help you make the transition into productive research as quickly as possible, we have abandoned the usual general survey course and filled that time with a focused consideration of the tools and concepts of your research project and those of your colleagues. Research project
Undergraduates sometimes have difficulty grasping that they are not there to help faculty do research but the reverse. You will be guided through appropriate steps to a research project where you play a creative role and bear ultimate responsibility. See faculty research interests for details.

Research community
You will join not only a laboratory but also the scientific community of which it is a part. The BBSI seminar series will bring in outside speakers working in the same areas as you and your colleagues. The series is tailored to bring you into structured interactions with scientists you will have met in research articles and who will have an avid interest in your work.
