Opening Symposium 2009 05/27-05/28

June 2-4: BBC Documentary Screening: 'The Story of India' * Tiranga will screen "The Story of India, a BBC documentary series, at 6 p.m. in the Commons Theater. Refreshments will be served. For more information, visit: http://www.studentorg.vcu.edu/tiranga/.

June 9&10 (Tues and Wed): On-the-air Radio Players perform "The Maltese Falcon", an old-time radio show with live music, live sound effects, and old commercials. The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. 7:30 PM. Free. Info: 501-5138.

June 16th, 6-8pm: Outdoor Adventure Program is hosting a Kayak Practice pool session in the MCV Campus Recreation & Aquatic Center pool. $10 student, $12 fac/staff, $14 guest. June 11th, Noon-1pm: Film Screening: Sick Around the World. Description: Four in five Americans say the U.S. health-care system needs fundamental change. Can the U.S. learn anything from the rest of the world about how to run a health-care system, or are these nations so culturally different from us that their solutions would simply not be acceptable to Americans? FRONTLINE correspondent T.R. Reid examines first-hand how other advanced capitalist democracies - the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, Taiwan and Switzerland - deliver healthcare and what the United States might learn from their successes and failures. June 26-28: The Outdoor Adventure Program will be hosting a hang gliding trip to the Outer Banks. We will leave from the Outing Rental Center on June 26 and we will return on June 28. We will spen Saturday relaxing on the beach, camp out that night, and Sunday morning we will join Kitty Hawk Kites for hang gliding lesson and flights. $145 for Students and $155 for staff, price includes includes food, transportation, lodging and flight lessons.
