Give you overview of the goals of the institute
Give you overview of the summer's events
Give you a minimal competence in a wet lab (if you need a minimal competence in a wet lab)
Give a brief introduction to using personal programming to solve problems in molecular biology

Read as much of the following as you think pertinent

Overview of lab safety brochure: Workers' Right to Know
VCU's Biosafety Manual

The following is those who think that wet lab skills will be useful.
Read just enough to answer the question at the end of the notes.
If you're bored to insensibility, stop.

Complete the short questionnaire (earlier the better but at least two hours before the session)
