Introduction to Personal Programming
Time: Friday, June 11, 9:00 am - noon
Place: Bioinformatics Computer Core Lab (Rm 104), Life Sciences Bldg
Organizer: Jeff Elhai
Audience: Primarily 1st year students
Goals of session
Taken together, you comprise a huge range in computer programming experience, making it difficult to prepare an Introduction that gives each person what he/she needs to know. So bear with me, please. The notes on the language we'll be using in Research Simulations (Perl) are constructed in part so that experienced programmers can whiz through them while others can extract more at a leisurely pace.
I hope. Or I might have missed badly. Please try to find the maximum utility you can. If the material is either boring, on one hand, or overwhelming, on the other, please let me know through the short questionnaire, given below.

Resources
Before coming to the session
- Download Perl (see above)
- (Optional) Download Perl Editor (see above) or some similar editor. You don't need an editor to run Perl, but it is helpful.
- Please read the notes given above.
- Please complete the short questionnaire (earlier the better but at least two hours before the session)
