Committee Charge

The University Information Technology Advisory Committee will provide guidance for the development and use of technology for instruction, research, public service and administrative activities at Virginia Commonwealth University as well as coordinate information technology activities with the VCU Health System. To fulfill that role, the Committee will:

• Guide the development of a University-wide information technology strategic plan

• Periodically review and suggest revisions to IT plans

• Develop and recommend new or revisions to IT policies and procedures

• Develop and recommend IT standards

• Suggest IT funding priorities

• Suggest IT tactical directions

Recommendations of the University Information Technology Advisory Committee will be reviewed and approved through normal University governance channels. The Committee will report jointly to the Provost, the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration and the Vice President for Health Sciences.

Membership

Four instructional/research faculty members:

• Two appointed by the Provost including one from nominations by the Faculty Senate

• Two appointed by the Vice President for Health Sciences including one VCU Health Systems clinician

Three administrative staff (including academic administrators)

• One appointed by the Provost

• One appointed by the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration

• One appointed by the Vice President for Health Sciences

Three students:

• One appointed by the Provost from nominations by the SGA-Academic Campus

• One appointed by the Vice President for Health Sciences from nominations by the SGA-MCV Campus

• One appointed by the Provost from nominations by the Graduate Student Association

Four ex officio (and non-voting) members:

• Vice Provost, Academic Technology

• Executive Director, Administrative Information Technology

• Executive Director, VCU Libraries

• Vice President for Information Services, VCU Health System

Faculty members will be appointed for two-year terms.

Student members will be appointed annually.

A chair will be elected annually from the voting members.
