Cloning and crystallization of the Phe56Ala
U1A RNA-binding protein

David Black, 1:45 pm

Protein-RNA interactions have been much less well characterized than protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions. This study attempts to provide an in-depth analysis of the U1A protein interactions with stem loop 2 of U1snRNA. By studying protein-RNA interactions in more detail, we may be able to develop computer tools to help predict (comparative genomics) or build (rational drug design) accurate models. This presentation includes the rational behind our cloning procedures as well as a preview of the process of refining crystallization data.
