Scenarios connect the course to the real world, providing a big problem close to a participant's research project on which to hang a discussion of bioinformatic/bioengineering tools and concepts.

They begin with a problem readily grasped without prior knowledge and end with a puzzle. It may not be evident at first, but solving the puzzle brings you into the heart of one or more key tools of the trade.
