Stipend checks
You'll get your stipend in three installments over the summer: one in June, one in July, one in August. The dates still have to be determined (for some reason they change every year). It is also not clear at press time whether the stipend check will be deposited automatically in a bank account, mailed to a home address, or placed directly in your clammy hands.
Should you bring money?
If this sounds like a silly question, please forgive me. I'm remembering when I went off to graduate school. I did the calculation: they're paying me X. I need to pay them Y. X is greater than Y, so... hey, I'm set! Unfortunately, it took considerable time before X became available, so I lived the first week on crushed cashews. Don't make my mistake! (Be creative and make your own). Since food is the only real expense, bringing $100 should be more than enough. Or maybe I'm naive.
