The Campaign for the VCU Massey Cancer Center:
A campaign about people
Goal: $70 million
Overview
Mother, father, son, daughter, spouse, relative, co-worker or friend — all,
when faced with the threat of cancer, seek the expertise of the physicians,
scientists, nurses, clinicians and staff for answers and to calm
their fears. Each is seeking assurance of the best possible way to
understand, cope and conquer the disease.
The VCU Massey Cancer Center
is among the nation’s leading
research and clinical institutions, one of only 61 National Cancer
Institute-designated Cancer Centers in the United States. A priceless
storehouse of scientific knowledge, technical expertise and practical
experience, the Massey Cancer Center is a vital resource for:
• |
cancer research,
|
• |
clinical trials,
|
• |
treatment,
|
• |
training of the region’s oncologists and
|
• |
economic development in Central Virginia.

Statistics
One out of every two men and one out of every three women will
be diagnosed with cancer in his or her lifetime.
Purpose
The Massey Cancer Center is committed to providing the best available

a cure for the many diseases known as cancer. To stay on the
cutting edge in the effort to eradicate cancer, Massey Cancer
Center must
retain and recruit the top researchers in the country with
endowed chairs, professorships, research funds and provide additional
state-of-the-art research facilities.
Why support Massey?
The success of the Massey Cancer Center Campaign will benefit
the citizens of the greater Richmond community, the commonwealth
of
Virginia, and the nation through the center’s research, clinical trials,
