The Campaign for the School of Allied Health
Professions
Goal: $4 million
Overview
Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Allied Health
Professions is regarded as an international leader in the education
of excellent, innovative and responsible allied health professionals.
The school is one of only a few institutions in the country that
provides education in the major allied health professions, offering
baccalaureate-, master’s-, postgraduate- and doctoral-level
programs in:
Clinical Laboratory Sciences
Gerontology
Health Administration
Nurse Anesthesia
Occupational Therapy
Patient Counseling
Physical Therapy
Radiation Sciences
Rehabilitation Counseling
The school also is a recognized leader in distance
education at VCU and throughout the country. The Doctoral Program
in Health
Related
Sciences, an interdisciplinary, Internet-based distance-learning
program, was developed in response to the national shortage of
teaching and research professionals trained at the doctoral level
in the allied
health disciplines. It is the only such program in the country.
The
School of Allied Health Professions’ unique contributions
are focused on sustaining our excellent national reputation.
It’s
visibility as a school contributes to VCU’s ability to
call itself a national research university, and is essential
to maintaining
our national rankings. Five of our graduate programs are ranked
in the top of their fields by the 2004 edition of U.S. News and
World
Report:
