Research

Virginia Commonwealth University is one of the youngest institutions to be recognized as a Carnegie Research University 1 with external funding of approximately $100 million. Medical Center

VCU has the Commonwealth's only comprehensive academic medical center located on the Medical College of Virginia (MCV) campus. The VCU Health Sciences Division, under the leadership of the Vice President for Health Sciences, includes the Schools of Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy. These schools as well as key Research Centers and Institutes, encompass strong multi-disciplinary research and graduate programs. MCV Hospitals, in collaboration with MCV Physicians, provides: high quality local, regional and statewide health care; hospital and clinic teaching sites for the education of VCU health professions students; assistance with the medical and biomedical research of VCU faculty.
