I would like to point out that courses on programming generally last an entire semester. By the end of that semester, you'd probably still not expect to be able to do much in the way of serious bionoformatics programming. Our crash course lasts a few days. If you are able to do anything remotely meaningful by that time, you might well count it as an outstanding victory.
