Abstract for "Teaching Shakespeare: A Report"

This report surveys seventy-five responses to a questionnaire I sent to 850 members of the Shakespeare Association in the fall of 1995 on their undergraduate teaching of Shakespeare. It covers the goals or purposes of respondents' Shakespeare coursee, the variety of pedagogical approaches they take within these courses, the critical approaches they emphasize, the methods (lecture, discussion, film, in-class performance) they use, and the value or importance they find in teaching Shakespeare in an undergraduate curriculum.
